Zanele Mbokazi's husband Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule revealed his wife has been diagnosed with lung cancer.

On April 21 the Ukhozi FM presenter fell ill and could not finish Eshilo as she experienced challenges with her voice, which saw her colleague Thokozani MaMkhize Ndlovu filling in for her.

Her daughter Nonjabulo recently revealed to TshisaLIVE Zanele had undergone minor surgery for shortness of breath.

On Wednesday, her husband Mpendulo gave an update on the media personality's health on Ukhozi FM's Vuka Afrika Breakfast Show.

“Doctors did several tests and took her to theatre for surgery to check what went wrong and they found she has lung cancer,” he said.

Mpendulo said he and his family were in shock after hearing the news and asked for privacy and prayers during this time.

“We are looking to God during this time, we thank everyone for their prayers and support.

“May we please continue to pray. This is the information we will share. Please give the family privacy to deal with this situation. We are still shocked.”

Zanele took to her timeline sharing a video of the announcement with the caption: “Cancer will bow.”
